After I saw the Software Engineer Intern Program on your website, I was impressed by both MosaicML’s company spirit of taking advantage of latest technology to develop more elaborate services to customers and the kind of personal growth it brings to its employees. I also believe that my past experience in both software development and bioinfomatics research can support me to successfully fulfill the duty of the position of a software engineer intern. Given my extensive experience with computer science and neurosicence, I’ve equipped myself with a profound understanding of different programming techniques and have developed a range of applications, including web services and mobile apps. During my work at the Abaoshuo group as a software engineer intern, I was in charge of developing a web application using React that allows customers to use modern AI technologies like stable diffusion and ChatGPT to generate or renew images. I also collaborated with other team members to design the JSON structures of data flow between the backend graphQL API and the frontend web services. I also mentored other interns and helped them set up a local programming environment, deploying applications onto Amazon EC2 and managing customer data via AWS cloud. During my time at Dr. Fu’s lab, focusing on age-related macular degeneration, I was responsible for collecting phenotype data of different genotype groups and using Python libraries, including Numpy and Pandas, for better visualizing the changes of each group over time for future reference. I also implemented my neural network model to help distinguish between the real lesions of interest and the annoying macrophages of similar sizes on the choroids of the subject mice. With all this experience, I am now a skilled full-stack software engineer with a strong background in developing web/mobile applications and high-performance, scalable systems which support various business needs. As a student who attempts to work in the field, I also participated in many companies’ insight programs. Through those activities, I connected with many sophisticated seniors in the industry and got closer to the working field I’ve been heading to. Networking with mentors in different companies not only practiced my skills to express myself but also helped me develop a deeper understanding of my future path and how to reach it. Besides, I also worked at the Information Desk in Rice’s Student Center to offer guidance to visitors and assist in holding special events. At this position, I gathered a lot of experience dealing with emergent incidents and collaborating with colleagues. The experience helped me mature as a programmer and problem solver, offered recognition of my professional preparation and solidified my intention to take on more challenges and apply my knowledge. I am interested in the Software Engineer Intern Program you offered and really want to try my best to contribute to MosaicML’s future.
