Intern Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA
Duration: Summer 2025 (10–12 weeks)

About the Role

Join Demandbase’s Machine Learning & Data Science team as a Summer Intern and apply your skills to real-world B2B buyer journey challenges. You’ll collaborate with seasoned data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop, optimize, and scale ML models that directly impact millions of users and thousands of customers.

This opportunity is ideal for graduate students eager to deepen their practical knowledge of machine learning, data science, and cloud-based analytics in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

What You'll Do

• Data Exploration & Preprocessing: Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets to clean, transform, and extract actionable insights.
• Feature Engineering: Design and refine features for ML models used in recommendations, ranking, and ad optimization.
• Model Development: Support the training and tuning of ML models using Python libraries like Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Experimentation & Evaluation: Run A/B tests and analyze results to validate model improvements and optimize business outcomes.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with engineers, product managers, and fellow data scientists to bring models into production.
• Continuous Learning: Stay current with the latest trends in ML/AI and document key findings to share knowledge across the team.

Who You Are

Education:

• Pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, or a related field.

Required Skills:

• Proficient in Python and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-Learn
• Solid understanding of data structures, ML principles, and statistical analysis
• Basic familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Strong analytical thinking and hands-on experience with SQL or NoSQL databases

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework or practical experience in machine learning, recommendation systems, or experimentation (A/B testing)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform)
• Experience with Spark or Scala is a plus
• Familiarity with neural networks or generative AI tools is a bonus
• Passion for using data to solve real business problems
