Job Description

The Economy and Special Projects teams are among the most innovative, forward-looking teams at Reddit. Together we?re trying to build an Internet of free, independent communities that are powered by a fun, collaborative economy. Our goal is to find new monetization models that restore the balance of power online, putting it back in the hands of the people. Though quite challenging, we believe it’s one of the most important projects to keep the Internet free.

Building this future requires a careful balance of engineering, testing, product, design, and business. It’s a matter of creating the right user experience, and that’s where you come in. We?re looking for a strong lead QA engineer who can provide the highest quality for new features while sustaining and improving the quality for the platform. You should not just execute test cases blindly but you need to think about quality in general and decide what and how features should be tested. Constantly thinking about how to reduce test cycles but improve quality at the same time. We need you to be the guardian of Quality.

    • Establish industry leading QA practices and processes.
    • Develop QA expertise and distribute knowledge across Economy teams.
    • Interview and hire the best test engineers.
    • Decrease testing cycles by introducing automation for Web, Android and iOS.
    • Write automated test scripts for critical user flows.
    • Be the voice of quality for product and development teams.
    • Perform features analysis to create detailed test plans and test cases.
    • Perform testing, triage test failures and report bugs.
  • Review UI design, product and technical specifications to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Use bug-tracking software to report bugs, and maintain their status up to date.
  • Provide timely and accurate QA reports.
  • Estimating, prioritizing, planning and coordinating quality testing activities.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution.
  • Manage test data.

  • 5+ years of QA experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a lead QA engineer (not just doer or clicker).
  • Experience in establishing QA processes and practices.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD process and quality gates
  • Knowledge of web, mobile software QA processes.
  • Experience in writing, executing and monitoring automated test suites using a variety of technologies such as cucumber, selenium, WebDriverJs, Mocha, Chai, Jest, Cypress, or PhantomJS.
  • Good knowledge of QA methodologies that cover regression testing, ad hoc testing, functional testing, user interface testing and end to end (E2E) testing, snapshot testing for react integration testing.
  • Hands on experience in testing web sites and API endpoints.
  • Good knowledge (and ideally experience) of load and performance testing.
  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English.
