Job Description

As an AI Engineer at Wavelo, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing AI-driven solutions that enhance our event processing capabilities. This is a hands-on role focused on writing high-quality code, developing machine learning models, and solving real-world problems using AI. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement AI solutions that drive automation, intelligence, and efficiency across our billing, orchestration, and provisioning systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI Model Development: Design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning models to extract actionable insights from telecom event streams.
  • End-to-End AI Engineering: Write and optimize production-grade code for model training, inference, and deployment, ensuring robustness and scalability.
  • Data Processing Pipelines: Build and maintain efficient data pipelines that feed into AI models, ensuring real-time performance and reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, data engineers, and product teams to integrate AI solutions seamlessly into our systems.
  • Monitoring and Continuous Improvement: Implement tools and frameworks for monitoring model performance, retraining as necessary, and ensuring ongoing accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Documentation and Best Practices: Maintain thorough documentation of AI models, data pipelines, and processes, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices within the team.

Must Have Qualifications: The ideal candidate is an experienced AI engineer with a strong software development background. They are highly proficient in AI/ML model development, deployment, and optimization, with a focus on coding, problem-solving, and real-time AI applications.

  • Experience: 3+ years in AI/ML engineering, software development, or similar roles, with demonstrated experience writing and maintaining production-level code.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or another relevant language.
  • Experience developing and deploying AI models for real-world applications.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Expertise in building and maintaining scalable AI data pipelines using Apache Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies.
  • Strong understanding of AI model lifecycle management, including training, evaluation, versioning, and retraining.
  • Proficiency in working with APIs, microservices, and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Solid knowledge of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model optimization for large-scale AI applications.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to apply AI to real-world problems, optimize performance, and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to explain technical concepts, collaborate with teams, and drive AI adoption across the organization.

Preferred/Nice to Have Qualifications:

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated model deployment.
  • Experience with real-time data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Flink.
  • Prior experience in applying AI to real-time analytics, IoT, or telecom event processing.
  • Proficiency in Go for high-performance AI engineering.
  • Exposure to reinforcement learning, anomaly detection, or other advanced AI techniques.

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $225,000 USD for US residents OR $167,000 - $185,000 CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ. Range may vary on a number of factors including, but not limited to: location, experience and qualifications.
