Join our dynamic team at Citizens Bank as a Generative AI Principal Data Scientist and take the lead on pioneering projects that blend advanced AI technologies with deep commercial insights. In this vital role, you will focus on leveraging Generative AI to enhance our services and solutions for commercial customers. The Principal Data Scientist will also continuously research the new and emerging techniques within the field for practical application. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in data science, and generative AI to make a tangible impact on the evolution of our AI platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Lead engagement with business partners to identify, prioritize, and translate business objectives to solutions ensuring alignment between technical development and business goals
• Lead the design, execution of GenAI experiments developing robust methodologies and evaluating model performance to drive innovation and ensure scalable, high-impact solutions
• Parse and manipulate raw, complex data streams to prepare for loading into an analytical tool; delve into complex data from systems to discover hidden relationships and useful information
• Implement data formulation process, including identification of attributes, exploratory data analysis, data transformation, and temporal data structures
• Perform hands-on text analysis
• Apply best available practices for artificial intelligence and machine learning
• Work with solution development team to define and implement data management, analytics, and user interface
• Provide guidance to and direct the efforts of other Data Scientists

Minimum Required:

• 7+ years of work experience in developing production grade models.
• 2+ years of experience working in a data science capacity within commercial bank or capital markets, with a strong understanding of commercial data and products.
• Proficient with commercial banking data and products and ability to interpret complex commercial financial statements and data sets.
• Profound expertise in data science, including a strong foundation in NLP and Generative AI technologies like RAG, Advanced Prompting, Evaluation, etc.
• Experience in machine learning, data mining, deep learning and statistical methodology; demonstrated experience using these techniques to solve business problems
• Proficiency in computer science or related discipline, coding in Python
• Strong experience working with large quantities of data, excellent SQL skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to convey actionable and understandable business intelligence
• Passion for collaboration and working with and inspiring cross-functional teams

Preferred:

• Working across multiple AI/ML services on AWS services
• Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MySQL, etc

Education

• Required: A STEM degree (Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics)

• Preferred: A business degree (finance, economics, MBA...) and a stem degree
