As part of our continued UK growth strategy WSP currently has a vacancy for a CFD Modelling Engineer to join one of our teams based in London, Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds. The position involves working on a range of fast paced built environment projects using a mix of open-source and commercial CFD software. 

You will be expected to provide input to CFD study design and methodology, and efficiently manage all aspects of modelling workflow, including; geometry, meshing, setup, simulation and post-processing, all while liaising with design teams, architects and clients to agree simulation inputs and feedback results. 

You will have opportunity to apply your CFD modelling experience to a wide range of engineering problems within a dynamic and forward-thinking consultancy environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with signature architects on landmark and high-profile UK and international building projects.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated learner with excellent time management and problem-solving skills, and who works well both in a small team and directly with clients. The role is geared towards a candidate that appreciates diversity in workload, with a mindset to develop new and innovative solutions.

Your experience should include knowledge that can support the delivery of some or all of the following typical range of modelling workflows:

Urban wind flow

Thermal comfort analysis

Fire and smoke analysis

Pollutant dispersion

Hydrodynamics

A successful candidate will have a background that includes:

• Postgraduate degree (PhD, MSc, MEng) in CFD or related field such as Aeronautics / Mechanical Engineering / Fire Engineering / Sustainable Design / Data Science

• Experience of CAD packages for geometry creation (ie. Rhino, Inventor, etc)

• Working knowledge and experience of the following would be a distinct advantage:

• Commercial CFD codes such as STAR CCM+ or Fluent

• Open source codes such as FDS and OpenFOAM

• Some experience of Python or other programming languages an advantage

• Some experience of Linux and HPC systems an advantage
