JOIN TARGET AI AS A LEAD AI SCIENTIST – FEATURE MANAGEMENT

Artificial Intelligence at Target is a hyper-growing, dynamic global team. AI Scientists work closely with other teams to create valuable insights using voluminous data collected from external and internal systems. Business operations are empowered with these insights to help achieve Target’s purpose of providing joy of everyday shopping to each Target guest.

As a Lead AI Scientist in the Feature Management team, you will be expected to understand data. You will utilize science, engineering and statistical tools to design and create software solutions that curate and maintain meaningful data features utilized within scientific models. You will employ software development principles of Agile and DevOps for creating such software. Responsibilities will include a mix of collecting, analyzing, cleansing, curating, imputing, validating data and designing, programming, debugging, supporting high quality, distributed, large scale software solutions.

We’re looking for a highly-motivated, technology curious, data professional who’s also a team player that can collaborate with both technical and business team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and create data features at scale
  • Partner with modelers for feature selection
  • Develop software systems in an agile environment using TDD employing CI/CD practices
  • Partner with other global team members to solve business problems
  • Innovate constantly and stay current with latest technologies

Requirements:

  • PhD/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in developing software applications
  • 3+ years’ experience working with volume and variety of data in a production environment
  • 2+ years’ hands on experience working on Big Data technologies - Hadoop, Spark and Hive 
  • Well versed with fundamentals of Computer Science: data structures, algorithms, etc.
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, Scala or Python
  • Familiarity with fundamentals of Applied Math: linear algebra, statistics, information theory, etc.
  • Understand application/software development and design
