The Role: Manager, India Analytics; Quantitative Analysis

The Location: Hyderabad

Grade: 11

The Role: S&P Global Platts is seeking for a strong Manager within India Analytics team to work closely with Data Science and Modelling group. In this role you will look to play a key role in assisting the design, development, implementation and management of new technological advancements aligning with the Platts Tech strategy. This role will lead a team of Data Analysts and Data Scientists in implementing various analytical solutions, automating workflows; also execute and support the legacy as well as the next generation advanced Data pipeline and Data science workbench platforms.

The Impact: This role has a core impact to our data science and modelling group responsible for enriching datasets and adding value to our analytics content through close collaboration with onsite teams and deliver Analytics data and modelling objectives. In this role you will gain a strong understanding of various commodities and Platts Analytics businesses to design and implement advanced strategic solutions and migrate the legacy processes into new technologies that enable data governance, automation, data quality monitoring and maintenance. In this role, you will be able to build and assist the team of high quality, multi-disciplinary data analysts, data scientists and will be able to work well in a team as well as capable to execute independently when needed.

The Team: Reporting to Head of India Analytics and collaborate closely with wider data science and modelling group, content teams and various stake holders. The successful candidate will expand a dynamic team of data analysts, data scientists and build & maintain data processes for the future ensuring integrity of our Analytics content and data flows.

Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with various stakeholders to collect, clean, model and visualise datasets.
  • To extract hidden value insights and enrich accuracy of the datasets.
  • To leverage technology and automate workflows creating modernized operational processes aligning with the team strategy.
  • To understand, implement and maintain analytical solutions & techniques independently being proactive and thought leadership.
  • To manage and standardize workflows aligning with the strategic initiatives.
  • To identify and manage dependencies and risks across various analytics products and applications.
  • To be strongly able to adjust the team processes quickly and best serve the project needs.
  • Oversee and manage the team members and coordinate priorities as per the business needs

  • To collaborate and coordinate with Data, content and modelling teams and establish round the clock operational assistance to provide analytical support of various commodity datasets
  • Assist in analytical support of data sets by working with wider data technicians, analysts, developers and Business Intelligence teams to ensure we have a complete and accurate dataset for cFlow, LNG, NA gas, World refinery and other commodities.
  • To ensure the team executes with discipline and delivers appropriate documentation
  • To drive and maintain high quality processes and delivering projects in collaborative Agile team environments
  • To develop relevant training programs for the staff and help them upskill as needed
  • To be able to Think beyond, be open minded, flexible, bring more capabilities into the team and execute successfully aligning with the team strategic initiatives

Requirements:

  • University degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data science and related disciplines
  • Proven leadership experience of successful team management and project execution
  • Ability to do research, identify, analyse data enrichments and presenting findings
  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver creative solutions and automated workflows
  • Experience dealing with data and databases like SQL server
  • Experience of working on end-to-end data science pipelines: problem scoping, data gathering, EDA, modelling, insights, visualizations, monitoring and maintenance
  • Experience with data automation using any analytics technologies like Python programming
  • Exposure to various Data Science capabilities; Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Plotly is beneficial
  • Strong communications with the ability to motivate, influence the team and build a constructive working relationship with the technology partners, stake holders and other internal/ external users
  • Experience of building high quality solutions and leading processes in the Agile working environment; understanding of Visual studio (VSTS)
  • A highly dedicated, detail oriented, energetic personality with the strong motivation and abilities to work and thrive in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with Oil, gas and energy markets is preferable but not essential
  • Experience/ knowledge of various commodity markets and understanding of analytics businesses is desirable
  • Experience working with Tableau is preferable but not essential
  • Understanding of cloud-based services is desirable, preferably AWS, but not essential
  • Experience working with Unified analytics platforms like Databricks is beneficial
