About the Role

We are looking for a senior Android engineer to lead the development of new features and client foundational/architectural improvements across the ChatGPT Android client. In this role, you will:

• Build and ship new features that push the boundaries of research and product innovation, bringing delightful and impactful AI experiences to Android users.

• Plan and implement foundational client architecture improvements, focusing on optimizing performance, reliability, and scalability for the Android platform.

• Drive client-side GraphQL migrations, collaborating with backend teams to adopt and integrate GraphQL, improving data fetching efficiency and developer productivity.

• Optimize Android platform infrastructure to support development, testing, and deployment of these product and architectural improvements.

• Work closely with research, product, design, and data science teams to ensure alignment and success in shipping innovative AI-driven features for Android.

In this role, you will:

• Build and ship new experiences that push the boundaries of research and product innovation to create a useful, delightful AI assistant in every user’s pocket

• Plan and deploy mobile platform infrastructure necessary to build, test, and deploy these product experiences.

• Execute on projects by working closely with research, product, design, data science and other members of product teams to land impact on product goals

• Create a diverse and inclusive culture that makes all feel welcome while enabling radical candor and the challenging of group-think.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Have a strong track record of building impactful Android features and delivering high-quality mobile applications.

• Have experience migrating to or using GraphQL for efficient data fetching, and collaborating with backend teams to drive this adoption.

• Enjoy solving complex architectural challenges to optimize performance, scalability, and developer productivity on Android.

• Value developer enablement, making it easier for other teams to deploy, test, and scale their work within the Android ecosystem.

• Are comfortable navigating ambiguity and rapidly changing requirements, and enjoy working cross-functionally to ship meaningful AI-powered experiences.
