Job Description

Continuing with the tradition of innovation, MetLife, as part of its Digital Office function, is establishing a dedicated center for advanced analytics & research in India. The setup of Global Analytics and Research Center (GARC) is a key multi-year strategic initiative focused on scaling data science capabilities, enabling a more cost-effective analytics operating model, and increasing data science maturity across the MetLife global community!

We are looking for accomplished analysts who are passionate about creating business impact by leveraging data and appropriate choice of analytical tools and techniques. The problem space covers business functions such as customer engagement, distribution, underwriting, claims operations, risk management, products and tackle hard, open-ended problems across geographies.

Senior Analyst- Business Analytics is a critical role, responsible for problem definition, solution design and development. The role requires an enthusiast with a combination of skills - consulting skills, analytical skills, experience with analytical techniques, algorithms, data handling /SQL skills and visualization skills to design approaches and build analytical solutions for various use cases. Exposure to production deployment will be a major plus. The person will also mentor Analysts and Jr Analysts and review their work.

Job Responsibilities

• Work with business engagement leads, delivery leads , data scientists , visualization specialists to understand and elaborate the business problem : design KPIs (as appropriate), wireframes and/or define hypotheses for performing EDA
• Understand data sources, assess data, work with business teams to develop data treatment and data aggregation rules and accordingly clean, treat, aggregate & prepare data
• Develop and test QlikView and Power BI scripts and/or develop & test machine learning models and/or perform exploratory data analysis
• Develop SQL queries and stored procedures to support the dashboards and validate queries written by colleagues
• Present results and insights to business stakeholders and drive consumption
• Work with Data Engineers to automate / productionalize solutions
• Manage, support and mentor new and established team members and review their work as required
• Build high quality software by adhering to coding standards as well as to design standards
• Promote re-usability, develop IP/re-usable components. Evangelize MetLife's best practices across teams
• Drive innovation through research, experimentation on new data/tools/techniques, application of those learnings to solve existing and new problems
• Share learnings, build awareness in the global data and analytics community

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in a technology/engineering field; Masters preferred

Experience

• 5+ yrs. of experience in the field of data, analytics, machine learning, BI
• Hands-on experience
• with visualization tools such as Qlik, Power BI
• advanced SQL and query optimization: relational databases and/or big data environments
• data models like Star Schema, Snowflake schema
• with machine learning /data science, Python, R
• Prior experience of working in teams involving various data and visualization, data scientists, UI/UX experts, end users : multi-geography, multi-functional teams
• Strong communication – written and oral skills
• structured problem-solving skills
• Experience or certification in graphical design, UI/UX would be an advantage
• Experience in Big Data technologies like Azure, AWS, Hadoop etc. preferred
