Job Description

FanDuel is looking for a data science manager to string focus on fraud and risk modeling to join our team. You will help manage the roadmap and evolve how FanDuel looks at the fraud and payments space using the advanced statistical and machine learning methodologies. You will be part of a group of data scientists and analysts to continually evolve the various tools, models, and data visualizations, to continue and keep our customers safe.

  • Develop and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models to detect and predict fraudulent behaviors
  • Continuously refine and enhance fraud detection models to improve accuracy and reduce false positives.
  • Collaborate with domain experts to understand key indicators of fraud and incorporate them into the models.
  • Identify and mitigate fraud risks by implementing anomaly detection and pattern recognition models to detect suspicious activities.
  • Implement real-time fraud detection systems using appropriate software and technologies.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in fraud detection methodologies
  • Lead projects from start to finish, maintain a roadmap, set proper expectations, and communicate timely and adequately with stakeholders
  • Own presentations to senior stakeholders, focusing on results and impactful actionable insights, adjusting the communication style to the audience

THE STATS

What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • 4-7+ years of experience in Data Science creating and deploying models
  • Hands on experience working within Fraud and/or Payments business units
  • Deep understanding of the technical elements required to build risk models
  • Experience developing roadmaps for operations teams to evolve how a business looks at customer risk
  • Bachelor's Degree in a highly numerate major (Math, Stats, Econ, etc.) or relevant experience in data and/or business analysis
  • Experience delivering model result to business users and have recommendation implemented
  • Leadership experience running a team focused on MMMs
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python or R required
  • Experience with techstacks such as MLFlow, Spark, Databricks, Sagemaker
  • Can write production level code, understand principles of programming
  • Experience working in groups and being part of smaller intra year projects
  • Interest in Sports and/or Sports Gaming preferred

The applicable salary range for this position is $126,000 - $165,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
