Job Description

In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop state-of-the-art computational tools to mitigate research disparities in genome-wide association studies for misdiagnosed and underdiagnosed neuropsychiatric traits using electronic health record data. This position offers a chance to develop or enhance your skills in machine learning, statistical genetics and big data analytics. Responsibilities

  • Applying machine learning methodologies to identify patterns in large and complex datasets of genomic and electronic health record data.
  • Automating data processing pipelines for performing genome-wide association studies
  • Implementing novel statistical strategies and algorithms for mitigating disparities in genomic research.
  • Maintaining code repositories to promote reproducible research.
  • Presenting results in scientific conferences and academic journals, leveraging data visualization techniques to communicate findings.

Qualifications

  • S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g., statistical genetics, computational genomics, biostatistics, systems biology, mathematics, physics, computer science, etc.), Ph.D. preferred.
  • Expertise in data science, statistical analyses and machine learning techniques.
  • Prior experience analyzing large biological or electronic health record datasets is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of genetics and/or statistical analysis software and online resources.
  • Extensive knowledge of programming in Python and/or R. Strongly qualified applicants will have experience in using SQL and maintaining code repositories using git.
  • Strong interest in working on data-intensive biomedical research problems understanding neuropsychiatric traits using genomic and electronic health record data.
  • Experience in Whole Exome/Genome analyses is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience in high performance and/or cloud computing is preferred.
