The Operations Analytics Consulting and Research Center (CRC) within Ford Motor Company’s Global Data, Insights and Analytics (GDI&A) organization is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team. As a Data Scientist in the CRC team, you will bring to bear cutting-edge methodologies that can address multiple themes’ challenges in Operations Analytics (e.g., Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, etc.). You will develop proof of concepts and transfer the knowledge to one or more Theme owners for deployment in current analytical solutions. This an exciting opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of areas such as Supply Chain Optimization, Inventory & Capacity Planning, and Process Design & Optimization.

What you’ll be able to do:

  • Translate business problems and questions into specific quantitative questions to be answered with available data using robust methodologies.
  • Develop data-driven mathematical models using optimization and/or statistical techniques.
  • Stay up to date with the latest academic and industry research in Operations Research and Simulation for potential business applications in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, etc. 
  • Communicate final recommendations to stakeholders.

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Masters in a quantitative field such as Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience modeling Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and engineering-related problems (including internship/co-op/course work)
  • 3+ years of experience building mathematical, statistical, and/or simulation models (including internship/co-op/course work)
  • 3+ years of experience using optimization solvers such as CPLEX/Gurobi/Xpress (including internship/co-op/course work)
  • 3+ years of experience prototyping and developing software in traditional programming languages (C++, Java, Python) (including internship/co-op/course work)
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL and data modeling (including internship/co-op/course work)

Our preferred requirements:

  • Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or any other data related field. 
  • Experience with simulation modeling tools (e.g. AnyLogic).
  • Knowledge of Probability & Statistics (e.g., Hypothesis testing, Regression, Stochastic modeling, Markov Chains, etc.)
  • Familiarity with unsupervised and supervised machine learning algorithms.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.?
