The Strategy & Enterprise Analytics within GDI&A is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team to support our Corporate Finance. The Data Scientist discovers and curates new and existing data sources to build insight for the business. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize the latest tools and methods in Statistics, Big Data, and Data Science (including AI/ML) to tackle a variety of analytics applications in Finance. Some of the current projects include forecasting structural costs and updating business plan, forecasting payables, total volume variance analysis, and assessing risk of treasure counter-parties.
The role spans the full project lifecycle from analytic problem definition, through data gathering, analysis, model development, reporting/visualization development, testing, and operational deployment.
What you’ll be able to do:
- Acquire deep understanding of the business problems and translate them into appropriate business solutions
- Drive development and delivery of analytic and statistical models using skills such as data acquisition and management, algorithm design, and model development & refinement
- Work with business partners using a collaborative, agile approach to develop solutions rapidly that add value and are centered around the user experience
- Develop mathematical, analytical and/or AI/ML models to support evidence-based decision making
- Ensure overall quality of the data & solutions throughout the analytic development process
- Interpret results and communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences including executive leadership
The minimum requirements we seek:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics, or related field
- 1+ years of experience in statistical analysis, and/or data mining (including co-op, internships, extra-curricular activities)
- 1+ years of experience with one or more of the following tools: Data Gathering skills/tools (e.g. SQL, Hadoop, Teradata, SAS, Business Objects, Alteryx), Statistical Analysis (e.g. Python, R, SAS) and/or Visualization skills/tools (e.g. Qlikview, Tableau, WebFocus) (including co-op, internships, extra-curricular activities)
- 1+ years of experience collaborating with teams to develop analytics solutions (including co-op, internships, extra-curricular activities)
Our preferred requirements:
- Master’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
- 2+ years of experience with R, SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, MINITAB, CPLEX, Python, Any Logic, Qlikview, Qlik Sense, Hadoop, SAP
- 2+ years of professional experience in data mining, statistical analysis, modeling, optimization
- Experience in Accounting, Finance, and Econometric forecasting
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem formulation and problem-solving skills
