Job Description

Etsy's Experimentation Configuration team is looking for an experienced leader who can help build Etsy’s next generation experimentation platform! We eliminate barriers to learning for Etsy with streamlined experiment planning, configuration, and deployment capabilities, closing the gap between idea inception and execution.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager of Experimentation. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?

Within the enablement organization, the Experimentation team focuses on making experimentation faster and more robust for Etsy. We own the centralized experimentation platform that is used by our Product, Engineering, Machine Learning, Analytics partners.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Manage and grow a team of outstanding engineers and data scientists to design and build methods and systems for experimentation and causal inference.

• Collaborate with other leaders at Etsy to drive the technical and strategic vision for advancing experimentation methodology.

• Collaborate with your Product partner on building the roadmap and supervise its execution. You will connect and coordinate business initiatives and team priorities.

• Provide technical mentorship to the team to build engineering infrastructure and statistical methodologies that helps Etsy run faster and more robust experiments.

• Nurture a strong engineering culture, responsible for delivering business results with the right quality and in a timely fashion.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• You have familiarity with large scale A/B testing platforms, A/B testing and quasi experimentation techniques.

• You have 2+ years direct or indirect management experience.

• You are an experienced engineering leader who brings both technical acuity and leadership skills to build a strong engineering team.

• You have effective oral and written communication skills.

• You have experience in coaching and mentoring individual contributors.

• You work effectively with leaders in multi-functional roles.

• You keep learning and always seek to improve yourself. You are curious about new opportunities and act to explore them.

• You are familiar with the trending technology in experimentation, machine learning, and software development.
