Job Description

Siri’s Conversation Intelligence team is seeking a senior machine learning manager to develop Siri’s next generation of natural interactions on Apple’s innovative devices. Our team builds a suite of AI-driven systems responsible for learning and understanding who the user is and what the user wants, learning from their feedback, and responding appropriately. This role requires someone with deep experience developing, launching, maintaining, and extending products.

The role requires experience developing technical strategy and successfully delivering tactical engineering projects to realize that strategy over time. The candidate must have a proven track record of building strong, cohesive teams from initial hires to shipping multiple products.

Key Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional machine learning engineering experience
• 5+ years leading teams that design and deliver complex software engineering and groundbreaking research projects
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with a tangible impact on the direction of product
• Strong organizational skills and experience working with large, diverse teams
• Strong in Computer Science and Machine Learning fundamentals, engineering principles, and development methodologies
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Provide technical leadership/take accountability for engineering quality
• Drive definition and adoption of engineering standard methodologies
• Drive innovation in production-grade systems
• Proven leader who’s continued to build teams that ship from the ground up, including positioning them well to continue to ship iteratively post-launch

Education & Experience

MS or PhD in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).

Additional Requirements

• Grow and manage highly talented teams of ML engineers, researchers, and managers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture requirements, design workflows, understand dependencies, define architecture, and implement and support solutions to major areas of the Conversation Platform.
• Work with design and product leadership to advance the Conversation Platform in support of long-term product goals.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $230,500 and $346,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
