Our work uses large volumes of complex, heterogeneous, multi-dimensional and often unstructured datasets from different sources. We aim to understand patterns, trends, and associations of diseases to inform preventive action in the UK and international contexts. Our group includes a diverse multidisciplinary team conducting high quality and innovative research addressing complex health and social care challenges of the 21st century. We employ traditional statistical and epidemiological methods, alongside cutting-edge artificial intelligence algorithms to gain insights into real-world problems. This is combined with qualitative research to provide a deeper understanding and application of big data findings.

The post holder will be responsible for submitting data requests, cleaning, planning and conducting rapid longitudinal analysis of electronic health records, with reproducible analytical pipelines. You will use CPRD and SAIL datasets including novel linkage with social care and climate change variables. You will work independently to conduct analysis, draft high-quality academic research papers and convey results of findings through presentations using interactive visualisations. You will be working under time pressures with tight deadlines.

The post is funded for 10 months in the first instance with a further 2 years of additional funding available.
