Job Description

The Data Science Team at Reddit is growing and we are looking for experienced Data Scientists to partner with our cross-functional partners (Product, Engineering, Designer, Marketing, Business Development etc.) to help us build and improve the systems that continuously drive our user and revenue growth.

As a Senior Data Scientist on the team, you will have the opportunity to play a significant role in driving the success of key product areas at Reddit (Consumer, Ads, Safety etc.). You will lead and contribute to defining the product strategy through measurement and metrics design, experimentation and causal analyses, supporting product decisions via deep data analyses, and ML modelingmodelling and research.

This person will be an industry technical leader with a solid technical background, strong business acumen, and excellent cross-functional stakeholders management skills. You will go through a general Data Scientists hiring process and get matched to the product area that best fits your background and interest.

Responsibilities:

  • Be actively involved in all phases of product development, including but not limited to, ideation, exploratory analysis, opportunity sizing, metrics design, offline modeling, experimentation and decision-making, post-launch monitoring/measurements etc.
  • You will have a keen interest in the collection and quality of underlying data (experiment design and analysis, data deep dive), along with working on ETLs, reporting dashboards and data aggregations needed for business tracking and/or ML model development.
  • Serve as a thought-partner for product managers, engineering managers and leadership from your respective product domain, communicating and shaping the roadmap and strategy for Reddit by identifying actionable and impactful insights through deep-dive analyses and analytics insights.

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant experiences in quantitative or data science roles, preferably for a consumer-facing service/app, ads monetization, safety etc.
  • D., M.S. or Bachelors degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Economics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields (If M.S. or Bachelors degree, a minimum of 4+ years of industry data science experience required; If PhD degree, a minimum of 2+ years of industry data science experience required)
  • Familiar with statistical analysis, programming languages (e.g., R / Python) and querying relational databases (e.g., SQL)
  • Deep understanding of online experimentation and causal inference
  • Comfortable in innovative and fast-paced environments, and an innate ability to bias toward action
  • Strong technical communication and demonstrated ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences alike
  • Able to tackle ambiguous and undefined problems

We are looking for a results-oriented and strategically minded Senior Data Scientist to work with our Growth Marketing team to help us accelerate our advertiser growth and understand our paid marketing efforts. This role will partner closely with several cross-functional partners such as the business marketing team and the ads product team to analyze the effectiveness of marketing & advertiser growth programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams such as product, marketing, and business development to model, analyze and influence the impact of multiple marketing tactics
  • Develop dashboards to analyze marketing spend performance and return on investment
  • Drive research investigations to understand the behavior of advertisers acquired through different paid marketing channels
  • Develop an advertiser segmentation to help us understand how to better quantify customer needs and workflows
  • Stand up lifetime value models to estimate the value of advertisers acquired through paid marketing
  • Conduct in-depth post-campaign analysis or set up experiments to help the team understand performance and opportunities for improved targeting.
  • Be an integral part of the Data Org (consisting of Data Science, Data Engineering, Experimentation, and Core ML), leveraging and contributing to the vibrant knowledge base, shared across a community of world-class data experts.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative analytical roles, preferably for an ads marketing team
  • Proficiency with relational database (e.g., SQL)
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and programming languages (e.g., R / Python)
  • Results-oriented with a strong customer and business focus
  • Entrepreneurial and self-directed, demonstrated ability to innovate and bias toward action in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to communicate and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to tackle ambiguous and undefined problems
