Job Description

Our Canva internship is a 12-week program that runs from June to August. You will join our team in person at our campus in Vienna to experience all the magic of Canva in real life. So your summertime is sorted!

As an Intern, you'll be able to work on real-life projects from start to finish. Along with this, we'll pair you with a Host and assign you a Buddy who will ensure your success at every step of the intern journey. Think of them as your own personal intern tour guides.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. The list below will give you the flavor of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Collaborating with your assigned team to design, develop, train, test, and maintain ML models
• Developing your machine learning skills and experience with some of the most talented engineers
• Interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders from both inside and outside your team

You're probably a match if

• You are currently enrolled and completing your studies between 2024 and mid-2025.
• You are based in Austria or the European Union and have working rights for the European Union. Please note, Canva will not be able to sponsor visas and relocate for Early Talent roles.
• You have excellent deep learning fundamentals, in domains such as segmentation, classification, generative AI and diffusion models.
• You are comfortable working in Python and PyTorch.
• You have the ability to conceive and translate statistical or machine learning models to practical, scalable solutions.
• You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• You have the desire to learn and grow as a technologist.
• You are able to commit to the 12-week, full-time summer program from early June to late August 2024.

It would be awesome if you also have:

• You can train ML models on (multiple) GPUs running in a GPU cluster or cloud.
• You possess proficiency in using MacOS, including its terminal commands, along with Ubuntu terminal commands.
