Responsibilities:

  • Develop a model that utilizes online retail-specific order and return trends to identify bad actors and prevent future occurrences of fraud.
  • Incorporate business feedback into data science models to adjust to changing business requirements and fraudulent activity patterns.
  • Investigate and analyze extensive datasets from diverse sources to identify patterns and anomalies indicative of fraudulent activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT and security, to integrate fraud detection models into real-time systems and contribute to the development of new tools for fraud prevention within the online retail environment.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and apps using Python, SQL, Looker, and Streamlit that provide actionable insights into fraud trends specific to online retail, enabling quick response and mitigation strategies.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in fraud detection technologies within the online retail industry, contributing to the implementation of new data tools and system integrations.
  • Work independently and proactively to address emerging fraud threats in the online retail space, adjusting models and strategies accordingly.
  • Present findings and insights related to fraud detection in the online retail industry to executive leadership clearly and actionably.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building and deploying machine learning models specifically for fraud detection in the online retail sector, focusing on anomaly detection and pattern recognition.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing fraud prevention strategies using machine learning techniques, including recommender systems, NLP, and embeddings tailored to online retail data.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially in handling and analyzing large datasets for fraud detection purposes in an online retail context.
  • Master's degree in computer science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in data science and machine learning engineering.
  • Strong coding skills in Python and proficiency with machine learning libraries and frameworks.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining dashboards and apps using tools such as Looker and Streamlit, demonstrating a high level of expertise in visualizing and interpreting data for effective decision-making.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
