Job Description

Who You Are

A Computer Science Masters Student or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics or related field who is eager to contribute to our research efforts in creating benchmarking framework.

We are seeking a team member located within one of the following areas: United States (CA, CO, CT, GA, MD, MN, MO, NC, TN, TX, VA, WA), Canada, or UK

Responsibilities

• Improve our current benchmarking framework for evaluating the performance deep learning algorithms.
• Refactor our existing codebase to use the improved framework.
• Develop experimental environments for onboarding new customers and tools to automate the process.
• Help develop lightweight APIs for training a broad range of RL algorithms.

Onboarding

In your first 30 days…

• Work with the Research Team to understand the requirements for Benchmarking Framework.
• Work with the Research Team to understand the current environments used in testing and experiments.
• Design and Develop the new Benchmarking framework.
• Design and Develop tools to automate customer onboarding to research environments.

In your first 60 days…

• Work with Researchers to ensure they are happy with the usability of the framework and environment tooling.
• Document the usage clearly.

In your first 90 days…

• Refactor the existing Research Codebase to use the new Benchmarking Framework.

Key Qualifications

• A Ph.D. or master's student in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics or related field but also will consider candidates in the later stages of pursing or completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
• Strong background in software engineering, with proficiency in Python
• Experience with maintaining machine learning code bases (Numpy, Pandas, Torch, etc.)

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with PyTorch and MLFlow
• Interest in benchmarking methodologies, performance evaluation, and experimental design
• Prior experience with research projects or contributions to open-source software is a plus
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with ML OPS, Open AI Gym / Farama Gymnasium environments.

General Interview Process

All of our interviews are held via Google Meet, and an active camera connection is required.

• Initial screening interview with a People Operations team member (30 minutes)
• Take Home Exercise
• Meeting with the Hiring Manager + Technical Interview (60 minutes)
• Culture fit interview with Phaidra’s co-founders (30 minutes)

Base Salary Range

• US Residents: $42-$50/hour
• UK Residents: £29-£33/hour
• Canada Residents: CA$40-CA$50/hour
