What You'll Do

Avalara is seeking a business-focused Senior Business Insights Analyst to join Global Analytics and Insights team. You will report to the Director of Business and Customer Analytics and provide analytical insights to enable application of best practices in customer lifecycle management. You will provide in-depth insights that form the basis of GTM strategy, develop scalable models, guide new acquisitions, product and channel decisions. By combining an understanding of business concepts with knowledge of statistics and exploratory data analysis, you will uncover actionable insights and catalyze change for Avalara's customers.

• Work with Marketing, Strategy, Customer Success teams for several Sales and Marketing programs; make clear, coherent and holistic recommendations based on test results
• Provide analytical deep-dives, monitor and optimize performance across multiple departments
• Design and complete testing strategies for improving individual performance across channels
• Integrate data from all 3rd party sources and develop Machine Learning algorithms to build propensity and value models for different products and geographies

What You'll Need to be Successful

• 5+ years of relevant work experience analyzing large, multi-dimensional data sets and synthesizing data insights into actionable recommendations
• Data-focused background with degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or Mathematics
• Fluent in Python, SQL and Excel (can write advanced macros); experience with visualization tools such as Tableau and building statistical models
• Experience presenting recommendations to senior-level executives and measuring the effectiveness of recommendations by monitoring their impact
• Above all comfort with data – ability to manipulate it, question its validity, interpret it, and develop recommendations based on it
