Job Description

Our mission is to solve the most important and fundamental challenges in AI and Robotics to enable future generations of intelligent machines that will help us all live better lives.

You will manage a team of Software Engineers, with expertise in a number of robotics disciplines, such as simulation, perception and embedded software development. This team builds software tools and platforms that cross-functionally serve our Research Projects;. they also directly support some of these Research Projects. Successful individuals on our team tend to operate with autonomy and alacrity, with strong customer/stakeholder empathy, and an ability to drive outcomes across the Software Engineering stack. As part of our unique research environment, you will be expected to thrive in situations of ambiguity, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and embrace the challenges that come with exploring uncharted territories.

What You Will Do

• Provide both highly technical leadership and effective people management to manage a team of engineers responsible building tools and platforms that, serve our internal customers and enable them to accelerate research progress
• Attract, recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing Software Engineering team
• Drive technical excellence, operational maturity, and code quality within your team
• Drive and influence strategy, roadmap creation and execution for the Software Engineering teams by working cross-functionally with stakeholders from other Engineering and Research Project teams
• Provide strong leadership to the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Collaborate with the other Engineering teams in Machine Learning, Hardware, Dev & MLOps and Test Operations to deliver on cross-functional features and capabilities
• Get your hands dirty, and build things with us

What You Will Need

• D. or equivalent in Computer Science or related field AND 6 or more years full-time Software Engineering work experience OR;
• 10 years full-time Software Engineering work experience, which includes 6+ years developing software for robotics applications.
• At least 4 years experience in managing high-performing software teams.
• Proven track record managing and scaling software teams
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making

Additional Qualifications

• Experience managing software teams at two or more companies
