The SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) - Data Analytics are core delivery team members responsible for the validation of functional and nonfunctional requirements implemented by a team. They are responsible for decomposing the functional and technical requirements created by Product Owners and Systems Analysts into test scripts. SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) raise defects as issues are identified and support the remediation process with teams.

The SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) is responsible for the quality of data products and analytics solutions and works collaboratively with the engineering team and product owner as part of the core delivery team. At Costco, we are on a mission to significantly leverage data to provide better products and services for our members. This role is focused on quality engineering to build, execute and automate test scripts to ensure high quality of every single data and analytics solution that is built and delivered by the engineering team. In this role you are required to drive the maturity of quality engineering that includes translating requirements into test scripts, collaborating with product owners on feature level testing and remediation processes and coach teams working across multiple business domain PODs. Quality engineer is a knowledgeable leader with an ability to lead and is passionate about data to solve business problems.

ROLE

  • Defines the testing strategy and approach to validate new or enhanced functionality implemented by teams.
  • Collaborates with team members to decompose functional and nonfunctional requirements into test scripts and scenarios.
  • Creates and executes manual and automated test scripts to validate the acceptance criteria defined within the epics and user stories implemented by team members.
  • Collaborates with product team members (e.g., Product Owners, Data architects and Engineers) to define the automating testing approach/strategy for a given product / application.
  • Maintains the automated testing suite and accompanying framework for a given product.
  • Collaborates with team members (e.g., DevOps Engineers, Data architects) to incorporate new automated test scripts into the continuous integration pipeline.
  • Communicates technical concepts to non-technical audiences both in written and verbal form.

REQUIRED

  •  5+ years’ software quality assurance engineering experience.
  • Ability to drive and deliver quality through process, instrumentation and testing.
  • Experience writing SQL queries against at least one relational database (SQL Server, Oracle, etc) to validate the data quality and reports.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience developing test scripts using Automation tools like Ranorex, Jenkins, SauceLabs, Splunk, Selenium etc.
  • A minimum of 2 years of development experience in any scripting language.
  • Proficient with Agile testing methodologies and best practices including organising test assets and developing test frameworks

Recommended:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent software/services experience.
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps and Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to the retail industry.
  • Experience with UX, BI solutions such as Power BI.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
