Responsible for identifying complex problems and developing novel machine learning algorithms to solve them. Evaluates accuracy and functionality of individual machine learning algorithms and understands the overall implications of entire machine learning frameworks. Responsible for overseeing design, implementation and evaluation of future machine learning based products and applications. Guides engineering teams to successfully deploy and operate machine learning based products and applications. Develops novel ways to solve problems and improve products using machine learning, provide guidance and leadership to other researchers and/or engineers. Acts as a technical expert in own area within the organization. May work independently or as part of a team on more complex projects. Provides mentoring and guidance to more junior team members. May be responsible for leading a team, but does not directly manage people.

The Comcast Applied AI for Customer Experience team is an innovative research group within Comcast’s Technology & Product organization with offices in Washington DC, Philadelphia and Denver that engages in groundbreaking research to re-invent customer experience for Comcast’s 22+ Million consumers using AI and machine learning.

We are currently looking to hire a lead researcher with 2+ years of experience in conducting cutting-edge research in AI and Machine Learning applied to the customer experience domain.

The primary location is Philadelphia, PA, but Washington DC is also acceptable. We feature an informal, open, fun atmosphere and cultivate a start-up culture with the backing of a Fortune 50 company. Core Responsibilities:

Strives for the successful completion of high profile, revenue impacting programs that use machine learning as essential components. Determines the technical objectives of an assignment. Could potentially mentor junior engineers as well as contribute as an individual contributor on key projects.

Leads the design of prototypes, partnering with Product Managers and other Business Partners on development that:

- Demonstrates AI/ML Research work related to one or more of the following areas:

  • Customer experience improvement using virtual assistants (chatbot).
  • machine learning and big data analytics for predictive modeling and proactive action recommendation.
  • Wi-Fi network modeling and optimization.

-Help with Product discovery and integrate research output into engineering code base.

-Collaborate with the ML platform team to remediate model issues and provide subject-matter expert opinions on model improvements.

-Drive innovation on improving the speed, coverage and control of high-speed internet data.

-Perform model validation activities including validation report write-ups, identification of model risks, and development of benchmark models.

-Develop new algorithmic solutions and technical requirements of custom designs for future products and applications.

Keep track of developments of relevant fields both in academia and industry. Attend relevant conferences and publishing research results is strongly encouraged. Conduct research in an incremental manner thereby enabling faster integration of technology into products. ?

Nice to have:

This position requires strong technical and problem-solving skills in machine learning and big data. Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, such as statistics, mathematics, computer science or engineering, advanced degree or Ph.D. highly preferred.

Advanced knowledge of statistical and machine learning models (e.g., logistic regression, time series analysis, random forests, SVMs, XGBoost, RNNs). Reinforcement Learning (RL) with a focus on Contextual Bandits techniques is) is highly desired.

2+ years of experience in machine learning, advanced statistical models, and AI research, Wi-Fi network modeling, optimization, localization and radio resource management. Domain knowledge on Wi-Fi/HSD/video preferred.

Strong programming skills on big data analytics (e.g., Python, R, Scikit-learn, Tensorflow, Spark, etc.) and/or embedded programming (C/C++)
