The Network Services Business Unit (NSBU) was created to accelerate the transition of Cisco’s portfolio to as-a-Service and consumption offers. The NSBU team works across all business units, and with an extreme sense of urgency, to enable the rapid change required to almost every part of Cisco’s business. What You’ll Do

As a Data Engineering Architect you will engage unique technical challenges and drive cutting edge innovation for the Internet. You will have access to unique and comprehensive datasets containing traffic flows, routing information and application experience.

You will work on a variety of projects with a high degree of exposure which will afford you the pleasure of interacting with two teams of highly skilled data scientist/ML engineers and networking specialists. To succeed in this position, you will have a passion for all things Internet and technology related, with a strong appetite for analytics and data analysis. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.

Who You'll Work With

Our team is made of engineers with a very diverse skillset united by their passion for innovation and their excitement for turning wildly disruptive ideas into products that impact the industry at large. We are building Cisco’s next technological innovation by combining machine learning and distributed software with networking technologies.

We love designing and implementing large-scale machine learning pipelines. Our technology stack includes Python, Scala, and Go, as well as a wide range of internal tools built on top of Apache Spark, TensorFlow, PostgreSQL and the Hadoop ecosystem.

Who You Are

An agile, pragmatic, and hardworking data engineer with proven experience in handling very large, complex, and intricate datasets. You love to collaborate with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software engineers in order to develop terabyte-scale data pipelines. You love technology, innovation, and building products with scalability in mind.

You thrive in dynamic environments that require a rare blend of innovation and swift execution. You pride yourself on your communication and interpersonal skills, on your keen eye for both aesthetic design and code, and an ability to autonomously plan and prioritize your work assignments based on the objectives of the team.

You can demonstrate a consistent track record in the following areas:

• At least 5 years of highly involved experience ideally working for an ISP in a production environment
• A firm understanding of “Internet technologies”
• Strong expertise in Python is required, especially for data manipulation and processing. Expertise in Scala or other programming languages is also valued.
• Expertise in dimensional data modeling and schema design for both SQL and NoSQL databases. Experience with PostgreSQL is valued.
• Exposure to statistics and data science techniques is appreciated
• Awareness of the AWS ML/AI ecosystem is a plus
• Exposure to Data Pipeline Architecture and Web Application Architecture (cloud) is a plus
• Exposure to micro-services and serverless architecture is beneficial
• Excellent spoken and written English language skills (C1 level) is required
