Are you the person we are looking for?

We are looking for a passionate Senior Data Engineer to join the global Data Architecture team here at BlackBerry. Working with the Sr. Manager, Database Automation, you will play a key role in building data collection and processing pipelines, as well as supporting users for BlackBerry cybersecurity platforms and products!

You will:

  • Translate data requirements from requestors of varying levels of technical expertise into data solutions
  • Identify, collect, clean, analyze, and model large amounts of complex data in a distribute fashion
  • Interpret data analysis results and provide actionable reports
  • Design and implement tools, data models, and dashboards to help visualize or monitor data
  • Create Automated Reporting Solutions
  • Utilize advanced ability to troubleshoot and resolves problems on a regular basis
  • Mentor and train other data analysts and similar roles
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest applicable technologies; attends applicable training, conferences, and learns new tools/technologies as needed
  • Prioritize and completes multiple tasks with little or no supervision
  • Protect BlackBerry operations by keeping information confidential
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You will bring:

  • Bachelor’s or high level degree preferred; relevant experience can be substituted for educational degree
  • 8-12 years as data engineer experience
  • At least 2 years databricks experience/skill.
  • A strong team player and work well within a diverse, cross-functional team
  • Highly skilled in Structured Query Language (SQL) programming
  • Teamwork and communication skills. You will be a strong teammate who works well within a diverse, multi-functional team
  • Coding skills in one or more programming languages. Python and Scala preferred
  • Experience processing large (petabytes) amounts of structured and unstructured complex data, in batches and real-time streaming
  • Experience in using and configuring distributed processing systems. Apache Spark experience preferred
  • Hands on experience building and maintaining ETL systems
  • Experience deploying and configuring infrastructure in public clouds such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Above & Beyond:

  • Experience working with data warehouses and data lakes.
