At Adobe, we're driving our reinvention as an AI company and betting on Generative AI! Last year, we have released many Generative AI capabilities under the Firefly umbrella - features used by more than 50% Photoshop users and generating 5B+ images, while doing AI responsibly and transparently!

We're looking for an outstanding senior engineering and ML leader to drive the Firefly web application and APIs. This role works with the VP of Firefly in the CTO platform organization, and key product leaders across Adobe. You will grow and lead an engineering organization that is responsible for three main pillars:

  • The Firefly website – driving the reinvention of creative tools with Generative AI at their core.
  • Firefly APIs - exposing Generative features in all Creative Cloud products (Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, Premiere, Audition, Substance)
  • Firefly Enterprise - building custom enterprise capabilities for content generation and automation.

You'll lead the integration of Generative AI into our customer experience and expand its business impact – partnering with Applied Research team and ML Training Platform teams that are training the Firefly models.

You'll lead a distributed team of experts (US, India, Romania), supervising the efficient operation of high-traffic cloud services and GPU workloads. Your role demands quick execution and scaling of existing processes.

You will turn Adobe’s generative AI vision into practical strategies, ensuring scalable AI feature integration. This involves budget management, liaising with senior leadership, and coordinating product launches and marketing with GTM teams

Your leadership will set the standard for innovation, rapid execution, and operational excellence at Adobe, attracting top industry talent to your team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a sizable growing organization focused on productizing generative AI features.
  • Define and hire key IC and people leaders to scale up across the pillars of Firefly website, Firefly Enterprise and Firefly Services.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of features across various workstreams in close partnership with product management, program management and various other stakeholders.
  • Define and implement a predictable execution framework.
  • Work with business leaders across various functions to make roadmap decisions based on technical tradeoffs and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with the Adobe apps leadership to build services on a schedule that support their business goals.
  • Lead your team successfully through the challenges of a matrixed organization.
  • Engaging deeply with your architects and leads on architecture, data flows, API design.
  • Drive headcount strategy for your global organization with multiple centers of excellence and scale the team to effectively deploy and maintain services round the clock.
  • Build out and articulate the technical roadmap and execution cadence that ensures predictable software delivery at a high quality.
  • Be accountable for scaling the Firefly services to support the needs of various apps/surfaces across multiple modalities (image, video, audio, 3d, etc.)
  • Make strategic decisions that will position your organization for maximum impact in the key areas of a next-generation editor, enterprise projects and multi-modal highly controllable AI capabilities.
  • Be player coach to a group of technical leaders.

What You Need to Succeed

  • A minimum of fifteen years of software industry experience
  • At least five years of senior leadership experience, leading teams of 100+
  • Experience building and shipping AI features at scale.
  • Experience leading the teams through the next phase of product growth (1-> 100).
  • Generative AI experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience at rapidly hiring and growing engineering organizations while maintaining a high bar.
  • Experience working with company senior leadership and executives on strategy and providing thought leadership to influence the right decisions.
  • A deep understanding of AI/ML, including ML frameworks, public cloud and commercial AI/ML solutions.
  • Knowledge of optimization and operation of GPU intensive ML workloads in production environments.
  • Understanding of model serving, orchestration, scaling and GPU resource management.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills - building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • A passion for staying up to date with the latest trends and technologies in generative AI
  • A Bachelor, Master or PhD. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Vision, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several  U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $183,200 -- $403,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
