In today’s data-centric landscape, the effective management and governance of models lie at the heart of informed decision-making. We are seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking professional to join our dynamic Enterprise Model Governance (EMG) Team. This pivotal new role will play a key part in shaping the future of our organization, ensuring that our models are not just powerful, but reliable, fair, transparent, compliant, and poised to drive Cigna’s strategic initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with business units across the company to expand our existing model inventory and include all in-scope models for Model Lifecycle Governance
  • Understand these models’ applications and work with stakeholders to assign risk tiers to them appropriately
  • Develop and continuously enhance Model Lifecycle Governance policy, procedure, and process
  • Work on change management and develop model governance training materials
  • Follow and understand evolving regulations around model/AI governance. Embrace the latest regulatory developments into Cigna’s EMG practice
  • Help launch Model Lifecycle Governance Program for Evernorth, ESI, EviCore and International Markets
  • Work cross-functionally to enforce adherence to the model governance framework and provide ongoing support for enhancements to the methodology. Working with Internal Audit when needed and appropriate for enforcement
  • Monitor and manage model governance KPIs of business partners around usage, disparity metrics and performance tracking
  • Participate in ongoing implementation of the governance procedure and various efforts in model standardization, automation, and inventory management
  • Work on standing up model performance monitoring capability
  • Support model bias mitigation work including monitoring the geo data and probability data used for bias testing
  • Understand specialty requirements to properly manage models provided by or provided to 3rd parties​, and help with the planned expansion of Model Lifecycle Governance to cover external models at appropriate time

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of hands-on model building experience required with proficiency in SAS, Python, or R
  • Deep understanding of statistics, probability theory, applied mathematics, and numerical optimization methods with broad exposure to modern machine learning models
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an outstanding ability to build relationships and navigate within a complex organization
  • Self-awareness, maturity, ability to collaborate as part of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Passionate self-starter to collaborate with senior stakeholders to establish trust & transparency in model lifecycles
  • MS in Quantitative fields such as Mathematics, Decision Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or equivalent work experience; PhD preferred
  • Experience in established institutions requiring setting up regulatory and / or consensus-driven methodology and model validation guidelines preferred

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 102,000 - 170,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
