Job Description

We are developing tools and devices to collect, organize and activate health data, and creating interventions to prevent and manage disease.

Our team combines expertise in healthcare, data science and technology to improve the health and well-being of our communities. We are developing the infrastructure and solutions to harness the profusion of health information for good. Our data-driven solutions span three primary areas: research, care and innovation. Programs include Project Baseline - our research initiative to increase participation and evidence generation in clinical research; Onduo - our personalized virtual care platform, which includes connected tools, lifestyle coaching and clinical support; and Debug - our effort to reduce the threat of mosquito-borne diseases by combining machine learning with sterile insect technique. We’re also actively working to combat the spread of COVID-19 through new programs like Healthy at Work.

One critical component of Verily’s strategy is our work to create a Health Platform focused on improving patient outcomes and lowering costs. A major pillar of this effort is Onduo, our Disease Management project which helps patients remotely manage chronic disease, where we are realizing the mission of using novel sensors and telemedicine to drive behavior change and outcomes. Onduo is currently caring for patients and we have strong evidence of clinical improvement - achieved through a combination of continuous glucose monitoring, a virtual clinic, health coaching and a behavior change app. We are currently working hard to expand our impact by treating people with more chronic conditions. We are looking for highly motivated people who are excited about improving healthcare, eager to work with cross functional peers and thrive in fast-paced ambiguity. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications:

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages.
• Experience working with two or more of the following: web application development, Unix/Linux environments, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, developing large software systems, and/or security software development.
• Excitement and commitment to shipping user facing products
• Strong written and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s, PhD, further education or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, Go, Objective-C, Swift.
• Experience working directly with end customers and stakeholders
• Interest and ability to learn new coding paradigms and language
• A desire to work on new projects in a start-up environment (and the ability to handle ambiguity and chaos that inevitably entails!)
