Job Description

Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics is a rapidly expanding initiative with the objective of revolutionizing the retail landscape through robotics. Our development and implementation of the cutting-edge Alphabot® technology are currently underway, with deployment in stores across North America.

We are seeking to hire an undergraduate student for Summer 2024. In the Robot Control System team, you will play a critical role in developing software services for our state-of-the-art supply chain automation.

As an Intern, you'll be part of our talented team focused on developing industry-changing solutions. This department consists of talented software engineers, contributing to projects and learning along the way.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:

• Contribute to new features and functionality.
• Design and develop modular, well documented code using sound software engineering principles.
• Write software unit tests.
• Participate in group discussions to share and gain knowledge.
• Work with SQA to troubleshoot, debug, and fix defects.

 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:  

• Experience with Java 11+.
• Exposure to Spring Boot, Akka, or Robotics.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Exposure to state machines, RESTful services, and Kafka.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
• Experience working within a group developing software solutions.
• Someone who thrives in a high energy and dynamic environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in robotics through schoolwork or outside activities is a plus.
• Ability and desire to work on site in Andover.
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in CS or related field.
