In the Quantitative Financial Researcher role you will be a key part of our Climate-Finance team where you will work on projects that explore the relationship between climate and the financial markets.

What You'll Do

  • Primary responsibility will be to support the development of several risk products and indices tied to climate change, for both physical and transition risk.
  • Conduct quantitative research to create or improve risk factor and index designs focused on desirable statistical properties, continuity, scale consistency, and representative response to underlying ground truth.
  • Working closely with product and engineering teams in the design and implementation of robust financial indices based on geospatial environmental data.
  • Act as an “internal customer” for Gro Indices by implementing research projects of personal interest as an ongoing test of index robustness and applicability.
  • Collaborating with the business development team on bespoke client projects.

What We're Looking For

  • Masters or Ph.D in a technical field including but not limited to Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Econometrics, and Computer Science.
  • Advanced degrees in Quantitative Finance or Financial Engineering also of interest.
  • 3+ years of relevant quantitative research experience in finance.
  • This could include a financial index company, product group at a bank, an econometric/index team at the BLS or FED.
  • Quantitative risk management and portfolio construction on the buy side would also apply.
  • Strong math and statistics background.
  • Familiarity with modern programming languages and tools including Python and cloud computing.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and presentation abilities.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to perform and synthesize quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Comfort with working with large volumes of data.
  • Ability to work autonomously under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members across functional roles.

Nice to Have

  • Experience/interest with geospatial data, climate data, or climate science.
  • Experience/interest in high performance computing.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is expected to be $150,000 - $210,000. Other compensation for the role includes equity, 20 days of PTO, 2 floating holidays, as well as health, vision & dental insurance.

Gro is hybrid: employees work three days in-office and choose the days which work best for them.
