Responsibilities

The Director of Data Strategy and Analytics will help design, build, and manage strategic data systems, processes, and tools used by team members and clients. Significant interaction with claims, loss control and risk management staff will be important to this process. This position will also work with WR Berkley Corporate to understand the data management terrain within existing systems. They will have ownership of complicated data feeds with a focus on data quality and completeness. Further, they will manage the full reporting process including data collection, database design, and dashboard/ report creation. The duties and responsibilities require technical programming ability and workers compensation fluency. The duties and responsibilities will evolve as the business develops.

Key functions include but are not limited to:

• Managing our strategic data initiatives
• Facilitating internal report design and delivery
• Directing data fluency initiatives and integrations across all departments
• Leading the transition from manual processes into integrated enterprise solutions
• Responsible for underwriting tool design and delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
• 10+ year commercial insurance experience. 5+ years directing database, reporting, and underwriting projects
• High level of programming ability in Python/R and SQL
• Experience with automations and data engineering
• Substantial executive and operational report writing experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead data science projects
• Familiarity with BI implementations from data engineering to dashboard design
• Workers Compensation experience required. Commercial Auto experience a plus
• Experience managing vendor relationships
• Data leadership working directly with claims, underwriting, and risk management to deliver impactful products
• Deep knowledge of deductible, loss sensitive, or loss run data a plus
• Up to 5-10% travel

The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role include:

• Base Salary Range: $140,000 – $175,000
• Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus.

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
