What you’ll do

  • Develop and implement advanced methodologies based on state-of-the-art data science techniques and climate variability and change science to prepare custom/tailored deliveries to support customers on key decisions.
  • Collaborate with our Data Engineering and Software Engineering teams to develop and implement strategies to improve the performance of our models.
  • Collaborate with our Product and Engineering teams to improve the quality and usability of our products.
  • Collaborate with our Customer Success teams to deliver high quality and timely reports to our customers.
  • Generate regular climate deliveries for our customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent (1-3 yrs) PhD graduate in atmospheric sciences, climate, environmental sciences, hydrology, or any closely related topic.
  • Excellent python programming skills.
  • Strong background in general data science.
  • Knowledge of frequently used data analysis techniques such as PCA, spectral analysis, covariance analysis, quantile mapping, among others.
  • Experience with pandas, numpy, sci-kit learn, pytorch, and similar.
  • Working knowledge of NNs, decision-tree based regression and classification.
  • Experience working with global data sets such as ERA5, CMIP data, satellite precipitation retrievals, global NWP forecasts.
  • Experience with Git, or other version control tools.
  • Experience in applying climate and atmospheric sciences knowledge to business/industry problems.
  • Customer-obsessed orientation: strong desire to ensure customer satisfaction and success.
  • Most importantly, a passion for climate change solutions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience working in a cloud environment (i.e. GCP, AWS, etc).
  • Linux knowledge.
  • SQL knowledge.
  • Experience communicating with Data Engineers and Software Engineers in an agile environment.
  • Ability to write production-level code, create documentation for existing code, and refactor the previously written code.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
