Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Power BI Developer (Software Engineer III). This position is located in Columbus, Ohio. Analytics supports government, academic and private industry clients in the areas of knowledge management of systems related to life sciences research, chemical and material science research, and healthcare. Someone in this role is expected to:
- Mix great design and user experience to deliver easy to consume data visualizations that users love
- Communicating on a regular basis with project leaders and team members, including mathematicians, computer scientists, statisticians, and engineers
- Proactively managing expectations and meeting deadlines in a fast moving, agile software development environment
- Conducting and participating in assigned projects with minimum of supervision and within time and budget constraints
- Continued job performance improvement through on-the-job training and outside study
- Thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment solving problems in a variety of application areas
- Minimal domestic travel
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Power BI
- Demonstrated experience as a business intelligence developer with an eye for design
- Understanding of data visualization best practices and user interface design
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Services OR AWS, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Analysis Services, and others
- Experience with development in Power BI Report Builder, Power BI Desktop and Power BI Online
- Experience managing Power BI Workspaces, Datasets reports, and Dashboards including Mobile interfaces
- Experience managing and implementing Power BI development pipelines and
- Ability to create prototype user interfaces quickly and efficiently
- Experience using version control software (e.g., Git, Subversion, Mercurial, etc.)
- Experience participating in requirements gathering process, providing user documentation, and writing clear, concise comments within programs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet competing deadlines successfully
- Applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person, as defined by U.S. export control laws.
- Will require Public Trust clearance.
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED
- Experience with developing, testing, documenting, and maintaining computer code for data driven projects
- Demonstrated competency in object-oriented programming with Java/JavaEE, Python, SAS, R, C, C#, or C++
- Experience with web development technologies and accompanying frameworks and libraries (e.g., jQuery, Bootstrap, etc.)
- Working with various data types such as XML, HTML, and JSON
- Experience with additional JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)
