We are currently seeking a Data Science Intern for Summer Semester 2021. This is a remote position.
JOB SUMMARY
We’re seeking an intern to help build upon existing R functions and Shiny Applications that aid in identifying sensor failures across Battelle’s National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON). The ideal candidate has knowledge of R programming and the data science framework, as well as introductory experience with statistical modeling.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with other team members to design, build, modify, and implement software applications
- Follow user requirements and documentation to code, modify and debug programs for assigned projects or functional areas
- Support data management actives by processing data and producing data visualizations
- Reviews system requirements and business processes
- Works independently and as a member of a multi-functional, dynamic team
THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
- Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science or Earth Sciences (e.g., meteorology, geology, ecology, etc.)
- At least one year of college-level coursework completed
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Experience with data mining, cleaning, and organizing using R
- Strong math and analytical skills
- Must be US Person
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED
- Knowledge of basic Machine Learning techniques using R
- Experience with R Studio
- Experience building Shiny Applications
