Job Description

As a senior architect for data platforms, the candidate will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to users and stakeholders in adopting enterprise standards to data platforms we support. The candidate must be able to balance the need for providing agile solutions in alignment with strong central governance of standards and practices. This is both a strategic design and hands on consulting position.

Responsibilities:

• Understand both business requirements and the enterprise vision to help guide technology evaluations and selections
• Perform current state assessment of user requirements and help business and technology teams to align to enterprise strategy and shared capabilities
• Develop written materials related to architectural domains including formalized strategies, road maps, blueprints, standards, architecture patterns and guidance to business executives
• Provide thought leadership and technical direction to other architects and developers
• Develop and maintain expertise and knowledge base on shared capabilities
• Maintain an ongoing awareness of emerging developments and trends in data domain
• Execute emerging technology vendor assessments and proof of concepts
• Identifies, assesses, and manages risks to ensure successful adoption of shared capabilities by business technology teams

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of building high performing, resilient and scalable data platforms
• Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and Data domain practices, patterns, and standards, with general knowledge of the other EA domains.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the latest technology and industry trends in Data platforms/tools
• Experience in Data Science and Big Data eco system is a strong plus
• Demonstrated knowledge working with a solution teams to incorporate standards.
• Experienced in Microsoft Visio and Powerpoint to create and review solution designs, architecture modeling artifacts, and diagrams
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field or equivalent relevant experience

Enterprise role overview:

Participates in the development and maintenance of a business and system architecture and conducts business information flow studies. Provides integrated systems planning and recommends new or different technologies that will enhance current systems and support overall corporate and business goals. Conducts system architecture studies of new and existing IT systems to permit development of integrated systems that operate at low cost levels. Recommends the appropriate computer platform, work stations and communication linkage required to support distributed and client server business processes and information flows. Interfaces with business areas to ensure all initiatives support business strategies and goals. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource; routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor. Will not have direct reports but will influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Provides input on staffing, budget and personnel. Typically 7-10 years of systems experience.
