The Impact You Will Make:

  • As an Applied Scientist within our ADAS/ADS unit, you will be at the forefront of translating recent scientific advancements and cutting-edge technologies into real-world applications and products. Your impact will encompass:
  • Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of Engineers, Data Scientists, and Applied Scientists to transform scientific breakthroughs into Advanced AI software solutions.
  • Utilizing your analytical skills to develop automated approaches that harness the full potential of data streams, optimizing the quality and efficiency of our mapping processes.
  • Taking a leading role in designing and implementing advanced (AI-enabled) systems that leverage multisensory data and multimodality models, with a specialized focus on autonomous driving and real-time map generation.
  • Applying deep learning methodologies and machine learning algorithms to develop pioneering systems that empower the capabilities of our real-time map creation.
  • Adapting and fine-tuning deep learning and machine learning models for seamless deployment on low-power embedded devices, ensuring enhanced performance and operational efficiency.
  • Driving transformative changes by taking ownership of your responsibilities, contributing to the elevation of team performance and successful project outcomes.
  • Demonstrating adaptability through embracing iterative development methodologies and addressing evolving technical challenges head-on.
  • Leading the initiation of new projects, positioning yourself as a key technical influencer within the unit and departments, and guiding strategic technology decisions.
  • Balancing intricate technical decisions with their broader business and operational impacts, making well-informed trade-offs to effectively meet the company's overarching objectives.
  • Crafting code and designing structures that promote collaborative teamwork and facilitate enhanced productivity and engagement among team members.
  • Facilitating the resolution of contentious technical discussions by building consensus and showcasing your adeptness at leading through influence.

What You Will Need:

  • A PhD or MS degree in computer vision, machine learning, or a related field, complemented by multiple research publications in top AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR etc.) or journals, or equivalent industry experience solving intricate AD and Mapping challenges.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C++, enabling the seamless development and implementation of your solutions.
  • An in-depth understanding of sensor data processing and multimodal sensor fusion, especially in working with Cameras and LiDAR. Prior experience with GIS and RADAR is a plus.
  • Extensive expertise in various computer vision approaches and deep learning methodologies including image / point cloud registration and structure from motion, 2D / 3D object detection and segmentation, self-supervised learning, active learning, uni-/multi-modal foundation models etc., allowing you to continually innovate and adapt in response to evolving ADAS technologies.
  • Keep abreast of related literature and a documented history of successfully steering ML research projects from inception to completion, covering problem formulation, experimentation, iteration, and eventual publication or product integration.
  • Effective communication skills, encompassing both written and verbal proficiency, to clearly articulate complex technical concepts and collaborate harmoniously within a diverse team.
  • Familiarity with programming tools and deep learning frameworks, including Git, OpenCV, PyTorch/TensorFlow etc.

Nice to have:

  • Proficiency in map-related technologies such as SLAM, HD mapping, and geospatial data processing.
  • Familiarity with Data Science and Machine Learning tools: Pandas, Scikit-learn, SciPy, NumPy, Databricks, Spark, MLFlow, Hyperoptetc.
  • General software tools: Docker, Azure/AWS, GIS softwares like QGIS etc.
