We are seeking an Associate Scientist I to join a fast-paced service laboratory that will prepare and sequence long-read libraries for metageomic, amplicon, clonal and targeted assays. This position is primarily a lab-based role which will involve processing samples from external collaborators and performing NGS analysis on them. Assisting in assay development and optimization will also be an important part of this role. If you are a “builder” looking to make an impact, this role may be for you. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Preparation of sequencing libraries from case and control samples.
• Execute experiments and planned tasks with some supervision. Be an expert in basic SOP and analytical tools.
• Assess results to determine outcomes, identify challenges and propose improvements.
• Reliably perform standardized data analysis and interpret data with some supervision.
• Organize, prepare, and present reports on experimental findings, seeking feedback for refinement of approaches.
• Develop strong working relationships within a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Agility and adaptability to keep up with changing priorities while balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, and demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree with 4+ years of industry experience, or Masters with 0-2 years of industry experience is required.
• Strong background in applying techniques of molecular biology and experimental design.
• Background in NGS library preparation, qPCR and basic analysis skills would be advantageous.
• Track record of demonstrating initiative both individually and as part of a team.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting automated liquid handlers would be advantageous.
• Experience with LIMS or operating in an ISO or GMP environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Base Compensation Pay Range: $79,200 - $96,800

In addition to base compensation, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.
