Location/Division Specific Information

In the genetic sciences bioinformatics group we help develop tools for genetic analysis in research, human health, and agricultural genomics. Our products enable population-scale studies and individual genetic insights.

How you will make an impact

You will join a team of bioinformatics scientists developing next-generation microarrays for human and animal research. Your efforts will determine the success of both internal and customer projects.

What you will do

You will work in a highly collaborative environment, frequently self-directed but constantly interacting with other scientists and project teams. We develop algorithms and methods for data analysis, support our most exciting projects and customers, and work with multidisciplinary teams to develop new methods and launch new products. Facility in problem solving and data analysis will be essential to success!

How will you get here?

Education: Ph.D. in bioinformatics, genetics, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience, plus 3 - 5 years’ work experience.

Desired experience

  • NGS or microarray analysis, GWAS, population and/or medical genetics
  • Algorithm development, statistical analysis, and/or machine learning in bioinformatics or computational biology
  • Customer interaction
  • Product development in biotech or pharmaceutical areas is a strong plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficiency in R, SQL, Python and/or Perl, and the Linux environment; C++ is helpful
  • Understanding of statistical tests, linear models, ANOVA, etc.
  • Knowledge of genetics, biochemistry, or related fields
  • Familiarity with the physical chemistry of nucleotide binding desired
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and/or manufacturing statistics is an advantage
