Job Description

The Role: BigHat Biosciences is seeking a motivated and energetic Scientist/Sr Scientist with a strong background in Antibody Developability to further advance BigHat’s platform for ML-driven antibody discovery and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Craft a vision for the wet-lab characterization of BigHat assets for Developability including formulating the overall strategy for molecule screening and promotion and selecting stage-appropriate assays that are compatible with production throughput
• Develop and execute a gold standard panel of assays for assessing molecule stability (i.e. low/high pH, oxidation, agitation) and specificity (i.e. polyreactivity, self-interaction) and apply to different drug formats and modalities (i.e. ADC, mAb, bispecific)
• Evaluate and onboard predictive assays for measuring high-concentration aggregation, solubility, and viscosity 
• Carry out formulation screening of late-stage candidates with analytical SEC and stability readouts
• Coordination with upstream expression/purification teams and external CROs to ensure timely handoff of samples and data return
• In collaboration with Programs and Data Sciences, integrate in silico with experimental analyses and set guidelines for molecule de-risking, promotion, and exclusion
• Contribute to the design and testing of internally-developed software for data upload, tracking, and visualization

About You

• PhD in Biochemistry or relevant discipline with 1+ year(s) of industry experience. Non-PhD candidates with extensive industry experience will also be considered.
• A strong background in analytical techniques including SEC, HIC, CE-SDS, DLS, and LC-MS (both hands-on and in experimental design). Ability to communicate results and translate to recommended actions.
• Appetite for learning and onboarding new technologies to improve work quality, timelines, throughput or cost.
• Nice-to-haves include prior experience working in a dynamic start-up environment and working with automation.
