• SixLab is a startup accelerator focused on energy innovation. Participants can leverage the skills and experience of the Studio X community, the tools and platform of Xeek, and the AI/ML innovation from our core data and geoscience teams.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a highly-motivated, product-focused Senior DevOps Engineer that is passionate about leading and enabling the development of the Studio X platform.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience and be comfortable working across Engineering, DevOps, and Site Reliability job functions.

You thrive in honing your skills to adapt to new technologies and working outside of your comfort zone. You are comfortable being responsible for analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and evolving a platform in a fast-paced, test and learn environment. 

You will be working on projects that make a tremendous impact for those solving problems in the Geoscience exploration space. You will be powering world-class tools that enable strategic business capabilities for our partners. As a senior technical member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for defining and evolving the architecture of the Studio X platform. What You’ll Do: 

• Manage and scale AWS infrastructure ensuring high operational availability.
• Define, design, and execute automated deployment strategies to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with our product and engineering teams to understand product goals, and build effective software delivery pipelines around these goals.
• Establish best practices around performance monitoring, metrics, and log aggregation.
• Establish and integrate best-in-class tooling to enable engineering velocity to scale.
• Be forward thinking – continuously look for opportunities to innovate and share technical solutions and product ideas with the team 

What you’ll bring:

• Strong consensus-building communication skills 
• Extensive experience designing and deploying systems in cloud-based architectures
• Strong experience designing systems with security and reliability best practices
• Strong experience deploying and managing IaC architectures (Terraform, CDK, etc)
• Strong Experience with AWS (EC2, Autoscaling, Lambda, IAM, S3, SQS, RDS, EKS/ECS) 
• A mindset to proactively identify and eliminate tech debt at both infrastructure and application level
• Extensive experience with database systems (relational and document-based DBs) is a big plus
• Prior experience in a product engineering role is a huge plus
• Prior experience operationalizing AI, ML, and other Data Science functions is a huge plus
• Entrepreneurial / Startup experience is a big plus 

Experience:

• 7+ years software engineering experience building and maintaining cloud-based architecture (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a STEM field, or equivalent practical experience

Time Commitment / Travel Requirements

• Full-time
• Preferred location: Austin, Remote for the right candidate
• Up to 15% travel may be required.
