Job Description

About the role:

At Innodata, we’re working on its next generation by helping clients expand the possibilities of what Large Language Models can achieve. And now, we’re looking for smart, savvy, and curious Generative AI Associates to join our team.

This is the role that writers and linguists dream about: you’ll be teaching the next generation of Large Language Models about what makes language special. We’re training generative AI in how to think, not just how to write.

This isn’t just a job: it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work on the frontlines of generative AI. There’s nothing more cutting-edge than this. Joining us means becoming an integral member of a global team shaping a high-quality, user-centric AI knowledge model that will be the foundation for the next wave of innovation in artificial intelligence. Keen to learn more?

What you’ll be doing:

As a Generative AI Associate (Legal) on our AI Large Language Models (LLMs) team, you will be joining a truly global team of subject matter experts across a wide variety of disciplines and will be entrusted with a range of responsibilities. We’re seeking self-motivated associates who can handle the speed required to be on the frontlines of innovation. In return, we’re happy and excited to train you in unlocking the potential of generative AI. Below are some responsibilities and tasks of our Generative AI Associate (Legal) role:

  • Providing thought leadership on how the next generation of generative AI should think and write.
  • Creating training data sets for AI models that will help the models improve fluency, coherence, and voice.
  • Spearheading RLHF (reinforcement learning through human feedback) and fine-tuning training data sets for AI as needed.
  • Annotating data to help AI models align to human values.
  • Creating and adhering to the rule book on how AI should respond to human queries.
  • Analyzing and improving the grammar, syntax, and sentence structure of both expert-generated training data as well as AI model-generated text to ensure it adheres to linguistic rules and conventions.
  • Create the guidebook on how LLMs should respond to legal queries

Job requirements

What we need you to bring:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or extensive paralegal experience
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills (in English)
  • Strong understanding of language, from grammar to semantics and beyond
  • Firm foundation across broad spectrum legal topics, including: administrative law, labor law, immigration law, corporate law, common law, criminal law, and more
  • Translate complex legal phrasing into consumer-friendly language
  • Nimble writer capable of dashing off short blurbs and essay-length responses
  • Experience with legal writing
  • Passion for problem-solving and clear communication
  • Experience in working with style guidelines and knowledge of AP Stylebook
  • Well-honed legal research skills

What we offer:

The base salary range for this full-time position is $48,000 – 54,000.
