Role Overview

Markerstudy Group are looking for an experienced Data Analyst or Senior Data Analyst to join a quickly growing company in developing ambitious solutions across a range of insurance lines, by leveraging vast data assets and state-of-the-art processing capabilities.

Markerstudy is a leading provider of private insurance in the UK, insuring around 5% of the private cars on the UK roads, 20% of commercial vehicles and over 30% of motorcycles in total premium levels of circa £1b. The majority of business is written as the insurance pricing provider behind household names such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, O2, Halifax, AA, Saga and Lloyds Bank to list a few.

As a Data Insight Analyst, you will use your advanced analytical skills to:

• Deliver outstanding and actionable customer insights
• Have responsibility for providing insights and building data products that helps shape Markerstudy’s strategic roadmaps and customer propositions
• Work collaboratively with other areas to increase overall company performance

Your ideas and solutions will enable improvements to products, prices and processes giving Markerstudy a critical advantage in the increasingly competitive insurance market.

As part of your Data Science career you will be expected to further advance a wide range of modern statistical, machine learning and data science methods. This knowledge will be applied to a wide range of business problems and adding demonstrable commercial value. You will aspire to become an experienced data scientist.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Hands on, across the full data product development cycle from, idea creation and data extraction to real time model deployment with little support from Data Scientist Support the build and maintenance of our core data products capabilities of in areas of fraud, debt, affordability, claims, pricing, journey and customer personalisation and our customer service contact centre
• Building new data products collaborating with internal and external clients with support from experienced Data Scientists
• Contribute to team capability: tools, code bank, real time model deployment and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to our wider data strategy, cloud roadmap and new machine learning deployment framework
• Support junior members of the team with your experience in data science and analytics
• Build up network across commercial data, pricing and wider MSG and BGLi teams
• Continue to review and optimise our data product suite through actionable insight and recommendations
• Apply creative machine learning techniques to solve a wide range of business problems and support our commercial delivery plan

Qualifications

Key Skills and Experience:

• Previous demonstratable Data Science / Analytics Experience in a business environment
• Strong maths / related science degree or demonstratable commercial experience
• Passionate and curious about data. Loves solving problems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to “story-tell” to our stakeholders and customers, making it relevant to your audience
• Selfless when it comes to sharing findings, experience and advice. We work as one individual team not a team of separate individuals!
• Proficient in R/Python/Sql or other coding stacks, relevant dashboard / visualisation (i.e. shiny, PowerBI)
• Understanding of Git, use of GitHub, bitbucket and version control systems
• Resilience, can work independently to deliver projects
• Proactively share insights, results and identify risks, without prompting
• Proficient at communicating results in a concise manner both verbally and written

Desirable

• Have some experience with NLP

• Hands-on experience in the cloud platform and tools (i.e. Azure, AWS, Databricks)
• Knowledge and awareness of the latest tools, techniques and technology across the analytics marketplace
