About the Role

As a Frontend Software Engineer at Citrine, your expertise will make Citrine’s outstanding features a reality for our customers. Your job will be putting cutting-edge AI tools directly into users’ hands. You’ll create web applications to enable user interaction with machine learning models in creative ways, data visualization software to spark scientific innovation, and sensible solutions for displaying, organizing, and searching data to boost research productivity.

Projects You Might Work On

• Our next-generation platform for empowering scientists with Citrine’s AI, guiding experimental design in materials science
• Sophisticated UI providing deep insights into materials data
• Next-generation data organization and aggregation tools

What You'll Do

• Build features for the Citrine Platform
• Deploy and support your software in production
• Collaborate closely with other engineers and designers, frequently reviewing code and discussing architecture
• Collaborate closely with our design team to build out our design system – making it easier to build sophisticated UI with speed
• Work in a multi-functional team on features from concept to delivery

The Stack

• Frontend and UI: React, Typescript, Node, Express, Webpack
• Test/Design: Jest, Cypress
• Design: Material Design, Storybook, Sketch
• Backend: Scala, Python, PostgreSQL
• Infrastructure: Docker, AWS, Jenkins

Skills and Experience

• 4+ years of experience developing JavaScript and/or Typescript in web applications
• Collaboration across functional teams – especially with UX designers and Product Managers
• Experience using jsin a production setting
• Demonstrated success working with fully remote teams

Nice-To-Haves

• BS in Computer Science or a similar technical field of study, or equivalent industry experience
• Experience iterating rapidly in an Agile environment
• Experience with visualization tools like d3, react-vis, lyor similar
• Experience with modern testing strategies such as BDD and TDD
• Experience with Cypress testing for integration and end-to-end tests
• Familiarity with containerization / Docker
• Experience with modern CI/CD practice
• A background in a physical science

Compensation and Pay Transparency 

At Citrine, we want your path to career growth to be transparent, straightforward, fair, and easily accessible -- starting with your application and interview process. The annual salary range listed below reflects the level we are considering for this position (please note that there may be unique situations where you may fall outside of this range). Where you fall within the range will depend on how your experience and skills align to our internal leveling system as we learn more about you throughout the interview process. 

$140,000 USD - $165,000 USD

*Range(s) listed are for full-time employees based in the United States only.
