Elevator Pitch

As a Staff ML/AI Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our machine learning strategy and the implementation of the technology and its application to software supply chain security.

You will possess an expert level of knowledge of modern machine learning techniques and software engineering, along with an enthusiasm for leveraging open-source tools and models.

You will collaborate with our engineering and product teams to solve complex problems, construct predictive models, and devise efficient algorithms to protect and monitor the software supply chain.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute significantly to a crucial part of our business and influence the future of secure open source software supply chain, leveraging large language models and generative AI.

Role Success: 6-12 Month Expectations

• Publish 4-5 quality articles on machine learning and secure supply chain that can be published to Stacklok’s website, showing thought leadership in the space of machine learning and software supply chain security.
• Improve and refine the results of Stacklok’s existing machine learning products and prototypes to improve insight and reporting capabilities on software supply chain risks.
• Research and document new methods to improve supply chain security by leveraging data science areas such as machine learning, AI or graph theory.
• Author a design proposal to implement a proof of concept working prototype leveraging machine learning to improve software supply chain security.
• Contribute code and code review of Stacklok’s software
• Build a machine learning / AI pipeline using the latest MLOps approaches.

In this Role, You will have the Opportunity to:

• Work closely with the colleagues to assess the potential impact of ML/AI technologies on the software supply chain landscape, and ideate on product capabilities that might mitigate the challenges.
• Apply machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets to discover patterns suggesting security risks.
• Design, test, and integrate novel algorithms into our software.
• Perform complex data queries, conduct statistical analyses, and develop high-quality prediction systems.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to comprehend their needs, frame problems, and provide data-driven solutions.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, growth, and collaboration within the team.
• Stay abreast of the latest technological trends in machine learning and AI, and harness them for the company's product growth.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Extensive industry experience in an ML/AI engineering role, preferably in a startup environment.
• Extensive knowledge of modern machine learning techniques and frameworks.
• Proficiency with open-source tools and models, such as Llama and HuggingFace Transformers.
• Software engineering experience, preferably contributions to open source projects with a proficiency in Python.
• Familiarity with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and scientific computing libraries like NumPy, and SciPy.
• Proficiency with a modern SDLC and its tools (Linux, Containers, Kubernetes etc).
• Experience with Open source projects, package managers and dependency matrixes and the security risks of the OSS ecosystem.
• Solid understanding of data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for a non-technical audience.
• Demonstrated track record of problem-solving and delivering data-driven solutions in machine learning / artificial intelligence.
