Job Description

About Us

Deep Genomics is a startup company that aims to revolutionize drug development by leveraging expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) to decode RNA biology. Our proprietary platform, the AI Workbench, enables us to decode the enormous complexity of RNA biology to find novel targets, mechanisms, and molecules that are not accessible through traditional methods. We use this advanced technology to develop steric-blocking oligonucleotides (SBOs) that achieve expression increase for the treatment of genetic disease. Founded in 2015, our multidisciplinary team includes expertise in a diverse range of disciplines including those found in a traditional drug company, as well as machine learning, laboratory automation, and software engineering. Deep Genomics is based in Toronto, Ontario with additional locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Montreal, Quebec.

Where You Fit In

As a Product Manager in the Engineering team, you will innovate and drive product initiatives for our internal research support software. You will play a critical role in our drug development mission by ensuring that the tools and systems we build empower our teams to discover and develop genetic medicines. Our data-driven approach to drug design involves a complex series of steps — from processing raw genomic data, to training and evaluating large-scale machine learning models and applying them to accelerate target discovery and drug design. Each stage of this process requires specialists from multiple domains to collaborate with each other; translating their diverse needs and leading the discovery and development of internal software tools to enable this process is every bit as complex as our scientific research, and will be the primary responsibility of this role.

What you will do:

  • Create and own the product roadmap for defined problem areas; contribute to the overall product vision and strategy
  • Deeply understand internal user needs across the company; clearly define and prioritize the most important problems to solve
  • Collaborate with our research and engineering teams to design, validate, build, and iterate on new tools and systems that enable our drug discovery goals
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and own end-to-end communication around engineering progress and areas of focus
  • Support software delivery by planning, prioritizing, and coordinating engineering work across multiple concurrent projects

What you bring:

  • Minimum two or more years of full-time experience as a Software Product Manager
  • Strong communications skills and experience collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders — including technical teams and senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex problems, break them down into manageable tasks, and prioritize them
  • Experience leading the design and development of intuitive and impactful user experiences from conception to launch and adoption
  • Natural curiosity and a passion for learning

Nice to have:

  • Education background in biology, genetics, science, or machine learning
  • Previous experience working as an internal tooling product manager
  • Prior experience with medical or scientific research projects, or laboratory systems
  • Hands-on experience as a software developer (front-end, back-end, or both)
  • PMP certification or similar project management certificate/licensing

What we offer:

  • Hybrid work environment: the successful candidate can mix at-home and in-office work, but will be expected to be in office an average of one day a week
  • A highly competitive salary and meaningful equity compensation (ESOPs)
  • A wide array of company-paid benefits
  • Exceptional opportunities for learning and growth working alongside a world-class team of researchers and software developers working at the intersection of the most exciting areas of science and technology

Deep Genomics thanks all applicants, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Deep Genomics welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
