Job Description

Position Overview: As a Camera Perception Engineer at FarmWise, you will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of our robotic agricultural systems. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and fine-tuning the camera perception algorithms and technologies that enable our machines to gather real-time data from the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Camera Perception Development: Work with our ML and Robotics teams to optimize cutting-edge computer vision algorithms for object detection, recognition, and tracking in agricultural environments. Ensure that the camera image quality and tuning allows the ML/Robotics processing to proceed with greatest accuracy in all lighting, weather, and terrain conditions.
  • Sensor Integration: Help design and integrate different types of cameras, lighting, and sensors into the robotic platforms to collect data efficiently. Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration and synchronization.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously improve the efficiency and accuracy of camera perception tuning and calibration. Optimize computational resources to ensure real-time operation on robotic platforms.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct extensive testing, validation, and verification of perception performance in real-world agricultural scenarios. Collaborate with the robotics team to integrate perception systems into the overall robotic framework.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of the camera perception tuning and experimental results. Communicate findings and progress effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in computer vision, illumination, deep learning, and sensor technologies. Identify and propose innovative approaches to enhance the performance of robotic agricultural systems.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in computer vision, image processing, and camera tuning.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and familiarity with frameworks like OpenCV, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Strong mathematical foundation, especially in linear algebra and calculus.
  • Experience with sensor fusion and perception on robotic platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of agricultural practices, agronomy, or related domains is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

$145,000 - $185,000 a year

FarmWise takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location in the U.S. The salary range provided is for Bay Area candidates. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. This range may be modified in the future.
