The Data Science team at Color is tasked with turning our large, growing corpus of data into actionable insights, using the most advanced methods available, to help individuals improve their health. Members of the team have diverse backgrounds in population genetics, biostatistics, machine learning, business analytics, and engineering. We enjoy working with other teams throughout the stack, including the early data exploration phase, scientific discovery, rigorous implementation, and eventually product integration and follow up.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Develop data-driven insights to guide our product roadmap and reach a broader market
  • Apply state-of-art methods in health research to improve our assay and offerings
  • Help individuals around the world utilize the technology you helped build

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • You have 3+ years of experience working with healthcare data
  • You have deep knowledge of data-driven research in healthcare in either genomics, epidemiology, or health outcomes
  • You're well-versed in the tools of the modern computational biology, including coding in Python, R, or C/C++ and the statistical models used to develop new insights or predictions
  • You have a MS or PhD in a quantitative or computational field and a track record of producing high quality research
  • You have a track record of translating scientific results into new products
  • You have the ability to plan and execute rigorous statistical analysis on population scale health data sets
  • You’re passionate about using biostatistics to help save lives and prevent catastrophic disease
  • You want to apply your skills in the service of a greater mission
  • You have and value strong communication and presentation skills and can confidently present your findings to technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to Have:

  • 3 or more years of experience working in the healthcare industry
  • Advanced proficiency in large scale data analysis and management

Recent projects the team worked on:

  • Developed novel imputation approaches from low-coverage whole-genome sequencing (collected locally, in our state-of-the-art NGS lab)
  • Demonstrated the contributions of mild and asymptomatic individuals to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus
  • Deployed machine learning models throughout multiple components of Color’s stack, including variant calling and classification
  • Developed epidemiological models of SARS-CoV-2 viral spread in small populations that help to inform proactive testing strategies that help keep people safe as they return to work or school
