Job Description

Allstate India has an exciting opportunity in which the successful candidate will be a part of the Data Analytics and Responsive technologies (DART) organization in the Data Science/Advanced Analytics stream, as an Sr Lead Data Scientist. This role is responsible for leading the use of data to identify and understand critical business opportunities and to design solutions to pursue those opportunities. This includes: the development and recommendation of new machine learning predictive modelling algorithms, the coding/development of tools that use machine learning/predictive modelling to make business decisions, searching for and integrating new data (both internal and external) that improves our modelling and machine learning results (and ultimately our decisions), and discovery of new business problems that can be solved using machine learning/predictive modelling.

Job Responsibilities

• Uses best practices to develop statistical, machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs and to improve the accuracy of our data and data-driven decisions 
• Reviews, evaluates, and communicates appropriateness of modeling techniques and results to team, leadership and stakeholders to ensure these are well understood and incorporated into business processes. With coaching, develops and executes communication strategy, keeping stakeholders informed and finding opportunities to influence the direction of work. 
• Collaborates with the team and works on data and business problems in order to improve the effectiveness of business decisions and business results through designing, building, and partnering to implement machine learning/predictive models. Understands the business’ problems to identify the optimal modeling approach. 
• Identifies languages and tools that can bring efficiencies or needed techniques to the team 
• Utilizes effective project planning techniques to break down moderately complex machine learning/predictive modeling and/or development projects into tasks and ensure deadlines are kept

Primary Skill

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (applied mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, operations research, etc.) and 7+ years of related experience
• Experience in managing end-to-end advanced analytics projects with clear business outcomes and proven contributions to such projects is needed
• Handling multiple data science projects and implementing best practices such as CI/CD, versioning.
• Experience querying databases in SQL and using statistical computer languages: Python, Pyspark
• Experience with exploratory data analysis, predictive modeling & machine learning using techniques such as GLM, GBM, Deep learning, NLP, Time series
• Experience with Deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow or Pytorch
• Experience in managing and manipulating large, complex datasets using Spark
• Good knowledge of the domain and business problems worked on with a clear understanding of the application of advanced analytics in general and that of the project will be a plus
• Strong oral communication and business writing skills to be able to communicate ideas, workings, and findings to stakeholders

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree / University degree in Engineering / Technology (B.Tech. / B.E.), Master’s Degree in any quantitative field
• 7 to 10 Years of working experience in data science
